Celebrating Service Through Community … here’s what has happened in the last month and what’s to come ! At Volunteers Great Lake Taupō, our focus is on the organisations that serve our community — and the people who give their time and energy to make those services possible.

We’ll be adding clarity and structure to our strategic direction, and of course doing our best to continue delivering consistent support across Taupō, Tūrangi and Mangakino.

Though for now … it’s time to thinking about how we can celebrate our Volunteers and Member Organisations … and one of the ways we do this is with our Annual Volunteer Service Awards.

The Volunteer Great Lake Taupō (VGLT) Volunteer Service Awards 2026 are now open for nominations, offering a chance to recognise and celebrate the outstanding contributions of local volunteers and volunteer groups.

The awards, which will be presented at one of Taupo’s more iconic venues, 2-Mile Bay Sail Club, literally out on the water, in June. The evening will highlight the selfless efforts of individuals and teams who work tirelessly to support and uplift the community.
